UCPN (Maoist) will leave present government: Chair Dahal

Kathmandu: UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that his party would be out from the government immediately if UCPN (Maoist) and CPN (Maoist) unite.Chairman Dahal said, “It is not a big thing for me to be out from the government if the two Maoist parties unite.” At an interaction by the Five-Parties Joint Committee here on Friday, he said that unity among Maoist parties was necessary and he was always ready for the same.

The UCPN (Maoist) Chairman challenged the concerned to send him to jail first if cases that occurred during conflict period are raised against the Comprehensive Peace Accord (CPA) and taken to regular process of the court.
Stating that the CPA was signed between the government and the Maoist at a time when Girija Prasad Koirala was Prime Minister, he said, “Now Sher Bahadur Deuba is in place of Girija Prasad Koirala. Sher Bahadur and Prachanda should be imprisoned if court gives justice.”

Chairman Dahal also stressed that conspiracies have been hatched to file cases without following the CPA and such act should be stopped. Similarly, CPN-Maoist Chairman Mohan Baidya said that there would be unity between the two parties if the UCPN (Maoist) remains out of the government. He said, “There will be unity among two parties if the UCPN (Maoist) remain out from the government. Let’s move ahead in a new way and fulfill people’s wish.”

Different speakers including former Ambassador Bijay Kanta Karna, acting President of the Federation of Nepali Journalists Khil Bahadur Bhandari, Civil Society leaders– Birendra Mishra, Dr Sundarmani Dixit, Malla K Sundar, among others said that it was sad that the information relating to the people who disappeared during the conflict period was not released so far.
